Changing Places
At Highgate Healthcare, we are proud to be part of Changing Places. The project started in 2006 in the UK and has expanded to Australia. Since 2012, Changing Places toilet facilities have been built across Australia. The project strives to allow people with a severe disability to not live a restricted life where their outings are limited by the need of specialised toilet facilities.
The difference between accessible toilets and Changing Places
Standard accessible toilets do not meet the needs of all people with a disability, particularly people with profound and severe disabilities such as spinal injuries, spina bifida, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis or acquired brain injury. These disabilities often require additional facilities to allow them to use the toilets comfortably.

What does a Changing Places facility have?
A Changing Places toilet has a height adjustable adult-sized change table, a tracking hoist system, enough space for two carers and provides a safe and clean environment. Highgate Healthcare is a trusted mobility equipment provider and we have already been involved in building several Changing Places toilets. We offer high quality ceiling hoists with a capacity of up to 248KG , slings and electric wall mount change tables.
